What do we do?
East Bristol Enterprise
East Bristol Enterprise was established to improve job opportunities in East Bristol and to provide sensibly priced office and workshop accommodation and Business Support services in the area.
The company has operated 2 sites, Easton Business Centre and the Old Co-op Business Centre, for a number of years. During the course of 2009, having joined forces with BEST (Bristol East Side Traders), two further properties have come on stream, The Old Library in Trinity Road and The Old Schoolhouse in Salisbury Street
Easton Business Centre
Easton Business Centre is a bustling community in the heart of Easton, Bristol which offers 68 Workshop and Office Units, varying in size from 120 sq ft to over 1000 sq ft.
This site has 2 meeting rooms that can be booked by licensees and non-licensees alike, a secure car park, and licensees can have 24 hour access.
The Old Co-op Business Centre
The second site, in Chelsea Road, Easton has 25 office units from 100 to 350 sq ft which are much favoured by Community Organisations and local start-up businesses. Sizes start at just 100 sq ft, ideal for the one-man or indeed the one-woman business.
The Old Library
There are a total of 7 office units ranging from 130 to 1300 sq ft arranged around a public space which houses a branch library four days a week. The building is a grade 2 listed purpose built Victorian public library built for the residents of St Philips in the last decade of the 19th century. It offers a range of accommodation and is ideal for those businesses who would benefit from the proximity of such a well used public space. The meeting room and facilities are modern and convenient and the interior is simply breathtaking, if you are interested in architectural history! Close to the city centre, Cabot Circus and good transport links.
The Schoolhouse
The Schoolhouse offers 6 office units ranging in size from 124 to 653 sq feet. It also has two large spaces of around 1500 sq feet each containing 24 individual artist's studios ideal for individual practitioners and small creative businesses. With no parking restrictions nearby and a quiet location off Avonvale road this site is also suitable for any businesses and non profits looking to set up in the Barton Hill area. For creative practitioners we are also offering free membership to our Bristol Creatives network for new tenants. Visit www.bristolcreatives.co.uk for more information on membership benefits.
Business Support Services
Chris Chapman, CEO of East Bristol Enterprise, is an accredited business advisor and is always happy to provide advice and support to tenants or to signpost on to sources of free or affordable advice elsewhere. East Bristol Enterprise has always worked closely with agencies such as Business Link, BRAVE, BEST, Bristol Enterprise Development Fund, Co-operative Development Agency and Social Enterprise Works and will refer businesses to trained or specialist advisors wherever needed.
Following the merger of East Bristol Enterprise and Bristol East Side Traders we intend to develop a programme of local business support services. We held our first joint Business Development Forum in November 2009 where tenants and other local businesses told us what kind of support they would like in order to help them run their businesses successfully. We know that there is a lot of business advice and information out there but many of our businesses would prefer to access it locally at times to suit them. We are working with partners to put together a calendar of events which we hope to run regularly throughout the year from one or more of our own venues. Further information on our future programmes of events can be found via this website or by contacting reception on 0117 9415800.
Bristol Creatives is a network of self employed artists and designer makers in the Bristol area. We host monthly networking events, run training courses and workshops, send out e-bulletins of what's happening in the visual and applied arts world and host an online creative directory on our website. For creative practitioners and businesses check out membership at www.bristolcreatives.co.uk and sign up for the many benefits. Tenants of our Schoolhouse Studios are offered free membership packages.
